Authorised Versions: Winchester and the Bible
An Exhibition of Books and Manuscripts Winchester College
Winchester had an important role in the creation of the King James Bible (1611) and was closely connected with the Revised Version in the nineteenth century and the New English Bible in the twentieth. This exhibition explores the history of biblical translation through books from the historic library of Winchester College. Among the highlights are an early manuscript of the Wycliffe translation, books from the library of Archbishop Cranmer, and a unique copy of the first bible printed in North America. Access via College Street. The exhibition is free of charge and no booking is required. The school museum and college tours will also be available to visitors: Winchester College | Public Access
